Records

     The Records Section operates under the Support Services Division. The Records Section is responsible for maintenance and distribution of all documents generated by our Patrol Officers and Detectives.  This section provides copies required by the State Attorney’s Office, Clerk of the Court and other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.  Entering of traffic, parking, and marine citations are among the duties performed by Records.  Being available to the public by phone or in person to assist them with requests or services is another important aspect that is provided by this department.

     The Records Section must follow the guidelines set forth by the Office of the Attorney General regarding the Public Records Act which is specific as to what information can be released to the public and what information is exempt or confidential.  They are also responsible for following retention guidelines for preservation and/or destruction of records. The Records Section is available to fingerprint the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30 and 11:30 AM.
