Community Oyster Garden

ON OCTOBER 24TH, 2020, THE NATURAL RESOURCES BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY OYSTER GARDEN  PROUDLY SERVED AS A 3RD YEAR PARTICIPANT IN ORCA'S "A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE INDIAN RIVER LAGOON" (ADIL) ANNUAL WATER QUALITY DATA COLLECTION EVENT!

The Community Oyster Garden is a cost-share grant project created in partnership with the Indian River Lagoon Council. Utilizing hanging baskets with juvenile oysters from the dock, we grew floating oyster reefs.
Between July of 2018 and October of 2019, nearly 300 participants from local schools, camps, and local organizations have come out for our FREE interactive tour and learned about oyster reefs, their importance to the Indian River Lagoon, the species that call them home, and the historic role of fishing and aquaculture in our area!
